If Wynonna and the Big Noise are coming in concert in a place near you – don’t miss them! I saw them in concert at the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta last night and was enthralled by her voice and the music.
Wynonna’s voice is better than ever mixing country, blues, and a touch of soul. Wynonna and the Big Noise are touring in smaller and more intimate venues rather than stadiums on this tour. The smaller locations make for a more intimate experience with the singer and their music.
Wynonna shares stories of her childhood, her experiences of touring and making music with her infamous mother Naomi Judd, stories about what is was like growing up with her sister – actress Ashley Judd, and provides a little comedy on the side.
I was surprised that she was so personal and interactive with the crowd. She wouldn’t take requests for individual songs that were being shouted out to her, but I didn’t hold that against her as she has a vault of fabulous music and it is her show so she can sing whatever she wants. Members of the crowd kept shouting for her to sing “Free Bird” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. At first, I thought this was just a joke as I have been to hundreds of concerts and this is something people tend to yell out as a joke and a nod to Rock & Roll nostalgia. Little did I know that she actually did record this song! She had the blessing of Lynyrd Skynyrd as Wynonna informed us that they gave their permission for her to do the cover as they knew she was one of the few that could do it justice. I have since downloaded her version of “Free Bird” and it is extremely well done. However, Wynonna could sing the Declaration of Independence and we would all be in awe of her voice and talent.
I have always wanted to see Wynonna and/or The Judds in concert, but the concert timing never worked with my schedule and/or my financial budget. So glad that I got to see her live and this concert is definitely on my list of favorites.
I absolutely LOVE her voice!
