How to Take Care of Your Feet
There are lots of jobs that require you to be on your feet all day from shop assistants to teachers, cabin crew to builders. It seems that the world of work has been split down the middle so you are either rushing about all day or spending your waking hours sitting at a desk, completely sedentary.
One of the main problems that people who spend all day rushing around find is that their comfort is compromised. Ideally, we humans are meant to balance up the amount of time we spend on our feet and off them so finding a little bit more of a compromise will suit you well. Here’s what you need to know:
Shoes are Everything
Just as horses need shoes to help protect their feet, we humans need shoes too. Unfortunately, though, we have spiraled into a crazy fashion-dictated world of stilettos and points. However lovely these shoes may look, they aren’t quite what women need to stay on their feet all day, are they?
Instead, you should look for more comfortable and supportive shoes. Straps will always improve the way that shoes hug your foot, and supple leather uppers are also a good way to get the perfect fit. And, since more and more women are joining in with sensible shoe fashion sites like Alegria Shoe Shop are offering some beautiful shoes you can spend all day in and enjoy wearing too.
Stretch it Out
When you are moving all day, you are putting your muscles through a lot. While this is certainly a good thing for your overall health, you may find that at the end of the day, you have a buildup of lactic acid causing you to feel stiff and sore.
The best thing for this is to do an exercise like yoga or pilates to gently but firmly realign your muscles and release that lactic acid. If you can, you might also like to do some stretches on your breaks and there are a few you can do while you are sitting down. This will also help to relieve any stresses of the day and allow you to relax more effectively before bedtime.
Eat Smaller Meals
If you are running around all day, the last thing you want is to feel either starving hungry, or just too full. The key to being comfortable is finding the balance between the two and figuring out a way to make sure that you are never starving but not too full either. If you can, then packing a few smaller meals to nibble on throughout the day will help to moderate your hunger on the go.
Try using more proteins and fats to keep you fuller for longer too. Eggs are ideal for this kind of eating because they are light, quick to cook, and provide lots of good nutrients to keep you going. Similarly, you could try granola muffins, soups, and salads to get more fruit and veg into your diet.

I love this post. I’ve found that my feet feel the best when I eat a healthy diet and wear good shoes. I only wear heels if I’m at an event, and I take them off immediately when I get home.
I make sure I dry my feet. Also, I do foot spa and pedicure every now and then.
Those are all great ideas for taking care of your feet. Honestly, I am happiest when I am barefoot or wearing flipflops, haha. I don’t like wearing shoes that much. Thankfully my friend is a podiatrist! lol
I never connected eating with my feet. I guess I didn’t think the two were connected.
These are some great tips for footcare. When I worked in retail, many years ago these would have come in handy.
Thank you. Working in retail and standing mostly all day definitely can take a toll on our feet.
Granola muffins? Never had one before. But I do love eggs. They’re a great source of protein.
I love eggs as well. Thank you for reading.

We really do in these trying times. Thank you for reading.
These are great tips!! I would have never of thought of eating a smaller meal though 😉

That’s good tip and now that we are staying home, I am preparing myself a spa treatment for my feet any day, thanks a lot for sharing! – Knycx Journeying
Nice! I love to pamper myself with an out home spa treatment!
I agree with you that shoes is everything. We should never compromise comfort over style. If you can get one with memory foam cushion, you should try one. It’s life changing.
Yes! Comfort is key.
I think stretching is important. I never correlated feet to food intake.
Everything seems to be based on our food intake! LOL
Yes yes feet are Very important to take care of as they support us throughout the day and each step we take.
I couldn’t agree more!
There are some really good hints and tips here for sure. I think sometimes we do forget about our feet x
Thank you! Yes, we must take care of our feet!
After being home for so many months and not being able to get my routine pedicure, I bought a ton of stuff to do it myself. I’m all about healthy feet so this was a great read.
I am glad you liked it! Stay safe!
