Kentucky Derby Viewing Party at 5CHURCH
5Church Atlanta is hosting a free viewing party on their rooftop patio for the 144th annual Kentucky Derby on May 5th. The event starts at 3 p.m. and includes a complimentary glass of Champagne from G.H. Mumm, the official Champagne sponsor for the Kentucky Derby.
Champagne plays a significant role in the victory celebrations at the Derby, as well as major events at the track throughout the year. Before the Derby begins, a bottle of Mumm Cordon Rouge will be ceremoniously sabred.
Please wear your best Derby attire and join the team of 5Church Atlanta at 3 p.m. to watch one of the most fashionable sporting events of the year!
When: May 5th at 3 pm.
Where: 5Church Atlanta (1197 Peachtree St NE – Atlanta, GA 30361)
142nd Kentucky Derby
I attended the 142nd Kentucky Derby courtesy of 14 Hands Wine and stopped by the G.H. Mumm Champagne suite which was next to ours. To my delight, Josh Duhamel was one of the celebrities in the Champagne's suite and was kind enough to take a picture with me. Okay, I might have had to ask him to take the picture because my hands were shaking too much to take a photo. I mean, come on – it was Josh Duhamel!
Kentucky Derby Fact:
Nicknamed “the most exciting two minutes in sports”, the first race was won by a horse called Aristides ridden by Oliver Lewis, with a time of two minutes and 37 seconds.

I’ve never been to a Kentucky Derby viewing (or event, for that matter!), but I’ve always loved the idea of dressing up and spending a day watching the races. A high school classmate’s family actually won the Kentucky Derby a few years back! This restaurant also looks like it has delicious food!
Wow Josh you are hot! It looks liek you had a fun day!
That food and drink look amazing! I love Autumn’s hat, too! I would love to go to the Kentucky Derby if not just to wear a fancy hat like that!
Oh, the food looks absolutely incredible! Sounds like such a fun experience
I have never been to anything like this but it looks like such a great time. I would love to go to the Kentucky Derby!
I’ve always wanted to go to a Kentucky derby! It looks like a fabulous time!
I have never been to a Kentucky Derby race but you make it sound and look like fun.
This looks like such a fun and tasty way to check out the derby!
Sounds like a great day out. We have the races in England and is always good fun!
Looks like a fun day, and that hat is definitely a showstopper!!
This looks absolutely incredible! Wish we had such amazing events here in our little seaside town in Durban, South Africa!
And gosh, I am with you sister – no way I would have been able to take the pic either #allthehearteyesforJosh
The derby is def one of my favorite events! The girls and I love to wear hats and just hang on Derby day!
How fun! I’ve yet to go to a derby ? but one day would love to and wear a big pretty hat!
Oh how fun! All I know about the Kentucky Derby is that ladies can wear outrageous hats!
I haven’t been to a derby before. That’s cool that you met Josh Duhamel. The food looks really good, especially the cheeseburger.
It looks like it will be a fun time with great food, drinks and company! Good day out if you ask me.
I’ve always wanted to go to the Derby. Looks like such a fun time…I would need a fun hat. Guys can wear hats too, right? haha
This sounds like such a fun thing to do. I’ve never been to the Kentucky Derby, or a horse race at all. It would be fun to do this with friends.
I have never been to a derby before but I always enjoying seeing the outlandish hats that people will wear and how they will dress up. Fashion is all about expressing your creativity and it looks like you had a wonderful time as well.
We are Atlantans too! We are going to have to put 5 Church on our radar! This event looks so much fun! We would totally check it out if we weren’t hosting a Derby party ourselves. Have so much fun!!
The food and drinks look amazing! I’ve never been to the Kentucky Derby, but this sounds like a ton of fun!
My sister lives just outside of Atlanta in Fayette county so one year she and I need to find the most amazing hats and do this! Looks so fun!!
I love the picture of you and Josh!!!! You look like besties! Someday, the husband and I will make it to the Derby.
I can’t wait to put on a big old hat and drink lots of mint juleps and be all around bougie!
This looks like a FABULOUS place to hang out and party for the Derby! My mom lives in Louisville and I have YET to go down and see it!
The Steak and blueberry juice looks totally mouth watering. Now I was in Australia and have not been to a horse race but I have a question why do people dress up to attend a horse race?
Now it is mostly about tradition. Horse racing started out as a sport for the wealthy and they would dress to the nines for the races and the trend continued. Basically, an excuse to dress up! LOL!
I’ve never been at this kind of events, it looks enjoyable and exciting, but before going, I’ll make sure to get the KENTUCKY DERBY hat
That’s all too exciting and there’s so much to look forward to when you’re going! It would be nice to go and just enjoy the day and all that it has to offer! I hope you guys have an amazing time!
This looks like a great event. I’ve never been to a derby myself but it seems like fun!
I love the derby! My neighborhood hosts a watch party and progressive dinner every year – it is one of my favorite events!
The food looks so good!!! Hopefully 1 day I’ll make it to the derby and I’ll definitely have to stop by 5church Atlanta. Thanks for sharing!
5Church Atlanta looks like a fun place. Sadly I am in NC. I have never participated in Derby day but have always wanted it. It looks so fun.
The Kentucky Derby is on my bucket list for sure! The food and drinks look amazing, plus what a fun excuse to find a super fun and girly hat!
I’d love to go to the Derby someday; we usually catch it on TV. I’m all about the hats 🙂
That food looks so delicious ! We have the races at Del Mar in my city, and it’s always an event. It’s really interesting !
I’ve never been to a Kentucky Derby event but it looks like so much fun! And all that food….yum!!
Wow the foods look delicious and deserves a perfect pairing. I haven’t experienced to attend Derby.
BTW, I also love your hat!
The event, food, the horses and especially Mumm Cordon Rouge look incredible. I’m just really sorry that Kentucky is so far away from me. One day maybe… who knows
Oh wow. This looks like a very prestigious event. Very similar to the Royal Ascot in England. It is a lovely event to participate it if one can afford it and if the weather is nice. Looked like a fun day, the food looked very yummy!
I would love to go to a Kentucky Derby race. I am a big fan of horsing racing here in London, but kentucky’s show always look exquisite.
This looks so fun! I’ve never been to a Derby party. I love that you met Josh!
That is so awesome that you were able to go to the 142nd race and meet Josh! I have always wanted to go and participate in the festivities with an outrageous hat. But I am also in Atlanta, so I’ll have to look into going to 5 Church this year! 🙂
This looks like so much fun. There is so many different things to do.
I really wish my 5Church had a rooftop!!! Sounds like so much fun!

I’ve never been to any Derby party ever! And this looks so much fun! I loved your hat and the food and drinks look incredibly delicious!
Surprisingly enough even though my grandfather and father were both jockeys (before I was born) I have never been to a Derby party… This definitely sounds like a great time! I don’t know if I can make to Atlanta for this, but maybe I could put together my own Derby party!
I have never been to the races before, but I know going to the Kentucky Derby would be amazing. I just love how everyone gets dressed up to go to the races. So fun. And the drinks look delicious.
I’ve never been to an derby event before I’m from the UK but this looks fun and the food look amazing.

Wow, tell me about posh! Although I don’t care for derbies – nor for horses for that matter – I do love Champagne and great food, so after all this would be just the right event for me 😉
This looks like so much fun! The hats alone make me want to join you.
This sounds like my kind of party! We usually have mint juleps while watching the Derby but I will happily switch it up for champagne instead!
Why not both? LOL
I have always loved watching the Kentucky Derby on T.V.! It is so much fun to see all the beautiful outfits and cheer for our favorite horses!
It is so much fun to watch!
