My Review of Watch Out for the Big Grrrls
In all honesty, I don't like “reality” shows and I made an exception in watching this reality talent and dance competition because of Lizzo. She is amazingly talented and such an inspiration to anyone looking to accomplish their goals but is scared to take the first step.
Both Lizzo's presence and personality drive the show. Lizzo is featured in every episode providing advice, personal success stories, and sharing information to motivate the girls to achieve success. The 10 contestants are competing for a spot as a backup dancer for Lizzo at Bonnaroo where Lizzo was set to make history as the festival’s first-ever female headliner according to Billboard. Unfortunately, Bonnaroo was canceled due to weather, but Lizzo's team didn't let that stop them from rewarding the winning contestants.
I watched this series with my daughter and we both LOVED it! The main theme of the show is body positivity and confidence. We both love the fact that Lizzo is the one making the ultimate decision on who becomes a backup dancer for her vs. a panel of judges. After all, it is her reputation and career that she has to put first, and selecting the girls that represent her best makes complete sense.
