Are you stressed like I am during this global pandemic?  Are you checking social media with a frenzy more than ever before to see what is going on in the world since we are not able to do the things we normally would be doing?

Communication is even harder during the pandemic since we have less time face to face with people. Today I’m joining #HowRightNow to take 10-15 minutes to prioritize my emotional wellbeing by reaching out to someone I care about to see how they are coping during this unprecedented time in the world.

If it seems in this picture my smile doesn’t quite reach my eyes, it is because that is true. This picture was taken two months ago. With all the uncertainty going on in the world, I have been battling with my depression.
I miss hugging people, shaking hands when we meet someone new, going out and enjoying local restaurants and businesses, attending concerts and other major events, being able to freely travel around the world, working out with my friends, and so much more.  I know that eventually, we will be able to do all of these again and that does give me hope for the future.

Time Out

Taking time to care for ourselves should always be a priority, especially during these challenging times. Making time to do it can be difficult, but did you know that as little as 10-15 minutes is enough to reduce stress, anxiety, or sadness?

Working out at home has helped with my overall health and helped me manage my stress levels and high blood pressure.  I went for my annual physical in September and for the first time in my life, the doctor told me that I had high blood pressure.  I knew then it was time to make my health and wellbeing a priority.

Now, I watch less news, stopped constantly checking social media for the latest breaking news of the day, and take time to just focus on myself.  By doing these simple but important actions, my blood pressure has returned to normal and I have been able to reduce my stress levels.
