New Timelines for Upcoming Disney Attractions in 2021

Disney has previously announced a lot of new and exciting things coming to Disney World parks including changes to rides and attractions, makeovers, and brand-new additions. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit and caused the parks all around the world to close down completely, Disney world being closed for nearly 4 months I’m sure you can imagine that this has not only put a damper on revenue for the parks but it has also delayed the construction and remodeling within the parks.

While some projects will remain on track, others have been pushed back or simplified to shorten the required construction time.

TRON Lightcycle Run Roller Coaster – Summer/Fall 2021

TRON Lightcyle Run Roller Coaster is a semi-enclosed motorbike roller coaster that takes guests on a ride through the Grid. It is based on the Tron series and the attraction originated at Disneyland Shanghai park. It is going to be a main attraction for the Tomorrowland revamp at Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World Railroad – Winter 2021

The Walt Disney World Railroad is not a new attraction however it has been closed as it intertwines with the construction of TRON and the railroad will remain closed at least through the end of 2020 and more than likely through the end of construction of the TRON attraction.

Cinderella’s Castle Refurbishment – Fall/Winter 2020

The Disney crew has made a lot of progress on Cinderella’s Castle Refurbishment and it’s going to look as beautiful and sparkling as ever upon its new reveal. They should be wrapping up the royal refurbishment over the next couple of months and the refreshed Castle will be unveiled to the public this Fall/Winter season just in time for the start of the 50th-anniversary celebration festivities to begin.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Roller Coaster – Late 2021

 Located at Epcot the Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster is going to be one of the longest indoor roller coasters in the world and will be a great addition to the EPCOT park at Disney World. It will be a roller coaster in which you sit in a car and ride through a track but additionally, your cart will spin throughout the ride as well to add an additional effect for riders.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – End of 2020- Early 2021

Another Epcot addition is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure being added in the France part of the park. The ride was originally put in at Disneyland in Paris and it is a trackless ride through which riders are guided by Remy through a hectic French Kitchen.

Disney Attractions in 2021

New Entrances at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom – Late 2020

Disney has decided to enhance and remodel the entrances at 3 of their 4 parks of Disney World. Solidified plans for the new entrances have not been revealed but it is certain that they will be new and improved.

Moana’s Journey of Water – 2022

Moana’s Journey of Water is going to be another addition at Disney World’s Epcot park – rather than a ride the Journey of Water will be a walk-through trail that will allow guests to see the beautiful sights of water and educate Disney guests about the cycle of water. It will be a great interactive experience for the whole family and will surely be a hit in Future World at Epcot.

There are no confirmed lists from Disney Parks just yet about confirmed dates of launches or cancellations of any projects. I know as an avid Disney lover and park visitor I am extremely excited about all of these new plans and attractions. I think that these changes and additions will truly add to the Disney experience.
