Are you interested in learning how to make homemade non-alcoholic eggnog from scratch? If you enjoy the rich and creamy taste of classic eggnog but are wary of using raw eggs, this recipe is perfect for you. My family loves this simple homemade eggnog recipe, and we make it every year during the holiday season. Give this non-alcoholic eggnog recipe a try and let me know how it turns out.
A quick tip for those looking to add some festive flair to their eggnog: my friends always ask me what to add to make an adult-only version. My husband and I like to add rum, bourbon, or cognac for a little holiday spirit.
Servings: 12
Total Prep Time: 30 minutes (plus time to chill)
Non-Alcoholic Eggnog Ingredients:
12 eggs
1 ¼ c. sugar
4 c. whole milk
2 t. vanilla extract
1 t. ground nutmeg
2 c. evaporated milk
2 c. half and half
Directions:
Step 1:
Combine eggs and sugar in a medium glass bowl and whisk until thoroughly combined. Transfer to a saucepan and stir in whole milk, vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg.
Step 2:
In a separate glass bowl, stir evaporated milk and half and half until combined.
Step 3:
Heat egg mixture over medium-low heat while stirring constantly to prevent the milk from scorching. When mixture reaches 160 degrees on a candy thermometer, remove from heat and slowly whisk in evaporated milk mixture.
Final Step!
Cool slightly before tasting. Add more sugar or nutmeg, to desired taste, and transfer to an airtight container. Refrigerate overnight or until thoroughly chilled. Serve this delicious homemade non-alcoholic eggnog in decorative holiday mugs and garnish with whipped cream, cinnamon sticks, or a dash of nutmeg.
Enjoy!
