We were hosted by Anderson Tours. As always, the thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.
Visiting Stonehenge and Bath with Anderson Tours in England
Anderson Tours offers a variety of short breaks, weekends away, and day excursions aimed at the independent traveler. My son and I opted for the Stonehenge and Bath tour package by Anderson Tours as this was my son's first trip to England and Stonehenge is a “must-see” tourist destination for anyone visiting the United Kingdom.
Stonehenge is around two hours from central London and Anderson Tours provides roundtrip luxury coach travel from various pick-up locations. We were lucky enough to have a bright, sunny day on the day that we went on our tour so we were able to see the beautiful English countryside along the way.

Stonehenge
The prehistoric monument was built in stages with the first monument being built around 5,000 years ago, and the unique stone circle erected in the late Neolithic period around 2500 BC. Many burials grounds dating back to the early Bronze Age surround the area of Stonehenge.
During our tour of Stonehenge, we were shocked to learn that in the early 1900s visitors were given chisels so that they could chip off a piece of the stones as a memento. Thankfully, in 1977 the stones were roped off so that people couldn't climb on them or damage them in any way.
One of UK's Most Popular Tourist Destinations
It is easy to see why over one million visitors tour the infamous Stonehenge site on an annual basis with the mystery of how it was built, who built it, and the fact that parts of the structure still remain to this day. As part of the Anderson Tour package, visitors are provided with an audio guide and are allowed around two hours to walk around Stonehenge, take photos, and stop into the newly opened visitor center.
My son and I loved our visit to Stonehenge and were delighted that we had such a beautiful day which made for lovely photos. We were both surprised at how quickly the time flew by and it was time to return to our coach to depart for the Bath part of the tour.
Stonehenge Private Access
Want to get up close and personal with Stonehenge? Anderson Tours offer special access tours where tourists are able to step inside the stone circle. These tours are limited to selected dates provided through English Heritage.
City of Bath
When we arrived in the city of Bath, I was overwhelmed with the stunning architecture. It literally is one of the most beautiful cities in England. From the Georgian architecture, Roman history, natural thermal spas, museums, and quaint little shops – – it looks like you are stepping into a Victorian novel.
Our Anderson Tour package included entrance to the Roman Baths and Museum along with an audio guide. The Roman Baths are a well-preserved Roman sacred site. The site includes the remains of the Temple of Aquae Sulis, the Roman baths fed by the sacred hot spring, and a museum of artifacts found at the site.
After the tour, we had time to walk and explore the city on our own. Bath has a wide variety of restaurants, pubs, shops and boutiques, museums, and historical sites to explore. I would love to return and spend more time in the area as it really is a unique travel destination.
